I curse all of “The Malevolent Seven”. May all torments of hell rot their souls. Lacruciallious Incantadious.
seriously, this is unbelieveable ….do you all have any idea the hours and days and years a lot of pi phi’s have put in to support Arrowmont?- it’s what sets us apart from all the others – there is nothing anywhere like it…don’t mess with those of us in Tennessee who you apparently hold in complete disdain – do not mess with the Nashville Alumnae Club… are you kidding me???? we love Arrowmont – Tennesse loves Arrowmont – the National Historic Register loves Arrowmont – have you no imagination? and really, bring a book to lunch, pullease, Dolly Parton has already one upped you on that one…just Google her in as Tennessean of the Year to learn about HER fight for literacy

The original mission of the Settlement School was way beyond “literacy” and the Grand Council knows this. If not, please read Century of Friendship! Note the second to last statement: gifts to the Foundation: that would be for First Book, Grand Council’s current fav. They are willing to give up something historic, something unique, something so valuable for jumping on the literacy bandwagon with who knows how many other organizations, most of them with a way better plan than First Book!
You are so right, Ms Brunson. What this is going to cost, besides the loss of our Common Cause which is Arrowmont, is donations to the Foundation for their very worthwhile work: scholarships and need based grants. I was livid when I got a solicitation from them just yesterday! No more donations from this Pi Phi!
And how disgusting they keep using the phrase “premier organization for women.” Dream on, Grand Council.
The latest kicker is that they (Grand Council ) have gained traction with the officers by claiming that the members who have been posting anonymously in opposition to the sale of the Arrowmont campus have been part of “threats” that allegedly have been made against them. This writer has never seen any threat, nor would she support any such threats. This writer has written in an effort to make sure the facts get out and are not covered up by council. They may have the power to push their agenda, but should not have complete power over the coverage of such. For them to resort to such outlandish claims in order to garner support from the officers is shameful.
Right on, A Pi Phi. I seriously doubt any threat at all has been made against them. Now paranoia reigns. You stated the exact reason most of us have posted: to make sure facts are out, ideas are presented, and not just their spin. We are getting into a freedom of speech issue here; they’d best leave that alone. Apparentely they have already taken control over the Web site (you know, the one with the seriously UGLY colors instead of wine and blue) and instructed officers to be silent. Where did we go wrong that we didn’t curb their power long ago when we had wonderful Council officers who wouldn’t have minded? Our Bad.
